Item-108:  Grace in Aging, Bill Sheehan (1-disc DVD Set)

Length:  89 mins.

Fr Bill shares some of his own experiences in aging. He describes what has been most helpful to him as he moved through the different stages of growth into the last stages of life. He shares some thoughts and insights from Kathleen Dowling Singh’s book “The Grace in Aging: Awaken as you Grow Older”.

Fr Bill finds helpful in the aging process Thomas Keating’s teaching on the four consents. Within the experience of being upheld in the love of God, Keating invites us to make the four consents. Briefly, these consist of our consent to the gift of our being, the gift of our creative and sexual energy, the experience of our own limitations, and the experience of transformation where the spiritual journey is all about transformation of mind and heart.

Fr Bill's talks were recorded during an intensive silent centering prayer retreat May 5 to 10, 2015, at Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House in Lake Dallas, Texas (near Dallas).
