Veni Creator Spiritus (All together)
Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,
And in our souls take up your rest;
Come with your grace and heavenly aid
To fill the hearts which you have made.
O Comforter, to you we cry,
O heavenly gift of God Most High,
O fount of life and fire of love,
And sweet anointing from above.
You in your sevenfold gifts are known;
You, finger of God’s hand we own;
You promise of the Father, you
Who do the tongue with power imbue.
Kindle our senses from above,
And make our hearts overflow with love;
With patience firm and virtue high
The weakness of our flesh supply.
Far from us drive the foe we dread,
And grant us your peace instead;
So shall we not, with you for guide,
Turn from the path of life aside.
Oh, may your grace on us bestow
The Father and the Son to know;
And you, through endless times confessed,
Of both the eternal Spirit blest.
Now to the Father and the Son,
Who rose from death, be glory given,
With you, O holy Comforter,
Henceforth by all in earth and heaven.
Amen
Meditation:
At the Last Supper Jesus prayed that we all may be one. In
fact we are one, and the challenge for us is to realize our unity and our
connectedness, to realize that everything we do affects the entire world.
My move to understand, to forgive, and to be compassionate toward another
who annoys me can mobilize to mercy a soldier who is thousands of miles
away. It can inspire meditation among world leaders. At any moment I can
pour into the world either love or hate energy. I can build or I can
destroy. We are born of God’s love and we bear the power of that love.
After Second Sit: Lord’s Prayer
Third Session: Scripture Study
Reading 2 Thess 2:13-14
But we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers
and sisters beloved by the Lord Jesus, because God chose you as the first
fruits for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and through
belief in the truth. For this purpose God called you through our
proclamation of the good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our
Lord Jesus Christ.
Close with Psalm 4
An Evening Prayer
Answer me when I pray to you,
my God who does what is right.
Make things easier for me when I am in trouble.
Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
People how long will you turn my honor into shame?
How long will you love what is false and look for new lies?
You know that the LORD has chosen for himself those who are loyal to him.
The LORD Listens when I pray to him.
When you are angry, do not sin.
Think about these things quietly as you go to bed.
Do what is right as a sacrifice to the LORD and trust the LORD.
Many people ask,
“Who will give us anything food?”
LORD, be kind to us.
But you have made me very happy, Happier than they are,
even with all their grain and new wine.
go to bed and sleep in peace
because LORD, only you keep me safe.
