John of the Cross and the Song of Songs: Mysticism, Eroticism, and Centering Prayer

Featuring Author & Lecturer

Pir Netanel Miles-Yépez

Saturday, December 4, 2021

10:00 AM to 2:00 PM CST

This presentation is an online conference using the Zoom platform

In these sessions, Netanel Miles-Yépez (who shares the same surname as his subject, Juan de Yépes) will discuss how the Spanish saint, better known as John of the Cross, gives instruction in contemplative prayer in terms that seem strikingly similar to Centering Prayer, and uses the erotic imagery of the Song of Songs to describe the mystical experiences which often follow such prayer. Using translations of the Song of Songs and John of the Cross from Miles-Yépez’s own book, My Love Stands Behind a Wall: A Translation of the Song of Songs and Other Poems, he will lead us through the mystical landscape of the great poet and saint, and lead Centering Prayer for us from John’s teachings in The Living Flame of Love.

$20 per Person

Advance reservations are encouraged. The number of registrations is limited and available on a first come, first serve basis.   All reservations are subject to confirmation (see add'l info on registration page).  The link to the Zoom conference will be emailed to all confirmed registrations 4 days before the conference date.
